well hello there!

So it's been a while, and the spring semester has begun!  I don't have foundation computers anymore, but maybe i'll keep this blog thing going.  Idk... we shall see.

Oh, and i'm pumped because my friends liz and nick just got blogs too!  

They have a lot of chemistry.

another scanner thing

I wanted to try the same layering/opacity thing that I did with the last three images with photographs.

Photo Editing

 So much work goes into an advertisement in order to make it "perfect".  This photo editing should not be done to the extreme that it is today.  Different parts of women are pasted together to make a "super" female body.  Society is presenting a figure that is physically impossible to achieve.  This image can harm American's body image and sense of low self-esteem.  The truth can be just as if not more beautiful than the photographic lies we view every day.

I really didn't like my scanner self-portrait, so when we got a new assignment to try another portrait but in a different style, I was really excited.  I decided to illustrate my friend Preethi.  It's a work in progress but I really like how it's turning out.  I'm trying to be really painterly because thats a style i gravitate towards in other people's art.

I really enjoyed drawing with text.  The limited brush palate forced me to be more creative and experiment.  I love writing and art, so getting to mix the two is really awesome.  It was interesting to look at the shapes of letters (instead of the letters themselves) and alter them in order to make something artistic.
